(Beware, spoilers below!)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns Jake gets injured failing to catch a perp. He’s so injured that his not cleared for duty. Meanwhile Rosa and the Captain have to attend a dinner party at the insistence of Kevin, which neither want to go through especially because her dating Marcus is weird enough. The Captain has a plan to invite Amy and Gina as ‘intimacy buffers’.

Jake is forced to to take some time off because of his injuries but manages to trick Boyle into helping him with a stakeout, At the dinner party with Holt and Rosa gets more and more awkward until she runs out and confesses that she might be pregnant. The Sarge shows up angry because Boyle called him. When Jake accidentally gets shut out on a balcony he gets even more mad.

Meanwhile Rosa goes to take a pregnancy test so Holt ends the dinner party early, just as Amy and Gina arrive. As a consequence they end up drinking heavy and are super hungover the next day when Holt promises to reschedule the dinner. Jake and the gang spot the perp but Jake can’t resist – he runs after the perp and ends up being hit by a car. He tells him about his past failures which explains why he swore to never take time off a case again. Rosa reveals she isn’t pregnant but thanks the Captain for his help.

“The Doctor said my bleeding as internal, that’s where the blood’s supposed to be!”

The show revolves around Jake’s goofiness so much that sometime it’s easy to forget how hard he works. This episode brought us back to this side of him whilst on the other hand we see the Rosa and Holt bond. Both know for being pretty closed off it was both funny and endearing to see them interact, as well as the physical comedy that ensued. However there aren’t many hints of where the show is headed to for its season finale, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but does make you hope something great will be pulled out of the bag.
